Do I Listen?
Proverbs 10:8
8 The wise in heart accept commands,
but a chattering fool comes to ruin.

Biblia:
Kawikaan 10:8
Magandang
payo’y tinatanggap ng pusong may unawa, ngunit kapahamakan ang wakas ng
mangmang na masalita.
Personal Application:
According to the book I read: Human Behavior in Business Organization written by Ione B.
Mison and Lillosa P. Bernabe
- new brain research suggests that
emotions, not IQ may be the true measure of human intelligence.
The ability to control self emotion is one of the measurements of
having
higher emotional intelligence. As a result, a person with high emotional intelligence is patient, have distinctive self control, higher understanding, better judgment and more positive trait.

Frankness = low
emotional intelligence?
Or maybe depends on the definition on what is being “frank” is all
about. If the frankness is defined as immediate declaration of what ever is in
the mind regardless of time and situation…I can say, it was the frankness I had.
I consider that now as equivalent to low emotional intelligence. It is something I have to change. I
have to control my emotions.
This phrase came into my mind, “Anything you say can be used against you.” A police officer would
say after reading the rights when someone is apprehended. I think I should
remember this very often.
Sometimes, I would mis-interpret an advice and would end up
talking before understanding the advice given to me especially if it is to
correct my behavior, against my principle, against to what I think is right or
not what I want.
I would have spoken more words to explain myself and go against
what is being told before the person talking to me is finished.
I easily get angry and talk rather than listen…as a result I would
end up hurting other people than having a healthy conversation and this is not what the Lord expects HIS
children to be...this is not what HE expect from me.
God is clearly teaching me to have a higher emotional intelligence
or EQ. I believe that the children of God have very high EQ and has great
amount of self discipline, self control, patience and understanding. If I want
to have this and be a better daughter of God then I should learn to start
listening first before talking.
Prayer:
Our heavenly Father, you never cease taking care of me, you know
every details of my life and all the corners that must be straightened. For so
many times, I have done so much talking rather than listen to You and my
fellowmen. I heed your advice and would start listening and understanding first
before I let my emotions carry me to wrong judgment. All the praises to You. In
Jesus name I pray. Amen
Lesson Learned:
Let mind understand, heart listen and tongue be tamed.
Something I learned and wish to comply consistently...
TumugonBurahinreally, emotion is the true measure of intelligence, that book is interesting to read;
TumugonBurahini like your narrative here...what i follow in life is to respect the rights of a human being and emotional aspect will follow
Great lesson sis! I should remember it always.
TumugonBurahinThis is a great read...a timely reminder for all of us. Thanks for sharing this, Sis! :)
TumugonBurahinThat's why I try to talk less when I'm mad. I know I can never take it back when I'm sober.
TumugonBurahinThank you for all your comments. I am glad I was able to share what I learned today. God bless!
