Listening Makes Us Wiser

Proverbs 11:12

12 Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense,
but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.
New International Version (NIV)

Kawikaan 11:12 (Tagalog) Magandang Balita Biblia (TPV)
12 Ang kapos sa kaalaman ay humahamak sa kapwa, ngunit laging tahimik ang taong may unawa.

After the first information reached or first side of the story had been laid down…WHAM!

In most people it would already be the basis of judgment and because of lack of information most of the time it does more harm than good. Often times it is also the key to MISUNDERSTANDING.

On the other hand, the bible says     but the one who has understanding holds their tongue”

Intelligent or wise people tend to keep silent first and try to find the story of the second party or the entire story or the entire incident before making any comment or suggestion. This is why often times they could render proper decision or suggestion which make them WISE.

Let us pray…

Dear Father in heaven, Thank you for Your message today. This will help us to be…to act…to think wisely. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

    1. On hindsight, I meet some who continue talking and talking kahit di sila hinihingan ng opinion no? They also pretend to be very intelligent people but when you observe their lives, it needs a revamp!

  2. It is important to pray and to find out the whole story without jumping to conclusions.. many a time people jump to conclusions too fast.

  3. Thanks for another wise word, Ms. Glen. This is what I try to live for, but somehow, it's easier to make rash decisions. Especially when it's a group against one person, diba? We really need to pray harder for the Holy Spirit's guidance.

  4. Sometimes, we really tend to listen to one side of the story only making some person immediately judge a person without knowing the whole story. Thanks for the reminder.

  7. it's a case of your word against mine. ahhh, it takes wisdom to carefully weigh who's telling the truth and who's not. never release a statement if you're in the height of your emotions.

  8. This is so true. It's better to keep silent first and know the whole story first before saying anything so you'll have a better understanding of the situation. Like what they always say, if you can't say anything good, better to keep yourself mum instead. Also, before saying anything, it's very important to PRAY first as ask for God's guidance that He may help you say the right words.

  9. Sapul na sapol ate Glen. Minsan talaga sigurong ganun. We tend to react easily. Madami din factors like kung stress ka volatile ka nun, madali masaring un feelings me especially kung ikaw un involve sa situation. Eventually natutunan naman na manahimik na muna, makinig at mag-isip bago magreact. I know kasi ganun ako dati.

  10. It's true, when we make decisions, we must always weight in all the facts. Hearing only one side of a story and deciding on that account is not only unfair but it courts problems.

    1. Amen. Welcome. It may sounds an advice but this is a lesson I am learning myself. Sharing it with you and those whom you would share it made us fulfill our task of spreading the teaching and words of God. However it had touched your life, I glad it is for the best. God bless!

  13. This is so true, sometimes we tend to misjudge the other party if we only get to hear one side of the story. Especially if that one side is related to you...

    1. We unintentionally get involve immediately if the one telling the story is a part of family because of the closeness and relation. However, like most of us had suggested. Prayer is the best shield to do when we are at the height of our emotions. :)
