We are all leaders in our own ways...
I was in the second year
in high school. We were grouped by our teacher to make a re-enactment Florante and Laura. All my classmates
went to our home to practice. As we were practicing the act, there were parts
of the script that
the actors and actresses often missed and as a script maker and the director of the show, it gave me a lot of disappointment. A member of the group suggested in changing that part to make the act easier but I was too stubborn to listen fearing the changes could make the act a bit too bland. As a result, I almost cry seeing how the actors and actresses kept on failing. I couldn’t accept failures because I was aiming for the perfection and high grades we can get from the good script and act.

They can see a teary
me…sitting in a corner trying to gain all the patience I can get… a friend
approached and quoted,
A good leader knows how to listen
and accept suggestion and correction.
Touched by how he uttered
those words sincerely, I started to change the script a bit and make a little
twist on the story after asking everyone their views and opinion. Being heard
made all the actors and actresses happy in doing the act because they felt they
were part of it and not just acting it and they did it so well and enjoyed it.
(I even allowed some of them to say a lot of adlib that
made the story a bit funny somehow)
As a result, the story and act were perfect and we got 98% grade from our
teacher who seems to enjoy the show so much.
Proverbs 10:17

Version (NIV)
17 Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life,
but whoever ignores correction leads others astray

Magandang Balita Biblia (TPV)
Ang
nakikinig sa payo ay nasa daan ng buhay, ngunit ang ayaw sumunod ay tungo sa
pagkaligaw.
If I didn’t listen to the advise, the act could
have been a failure. I am glad I heed the corrections.
Let us pray…
Our Heavenly Father. as a mother and a wife, I am a
leader of the play everyday in our home. Please make me remember to listen to
my family member’s opinion. Not everything in our daily life could happened the
way things I want them to be. Let me heed to their suggestions. Let me listen
to what they need and what they want to make everyone happy. As you let me talk
to you everyday, I know you listen to me and consider my suggestions a lot of
times as your child. May I do the same with my family, colleague, friends and
brothers and sister in Christ. Remind me, Lord, that I should never disregard
the correction made to me and should always heed discipline. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Lesson Learned:
An
open mind and understanding heart knows how to listen, accept and obey.
nice one here. good you're guided with God's words, it'll help you mature and be the leader He calls you to be.
TumugonBurahinWell, I never dreamed of becoming one. It is more fun to be a player than a leader but I guess we all have that quality of a leader in us with God's guidance.
BurahinA good leader is a good member indeed.
TumugonBurahinYeah, I guess so..others would say..the best story teller is a good observer and listener.
Burahinthat was a nice story you imparted, i commend what you did, a leader should listen other's opinion
TumugonBurahinI only got reminded of it soon as I read this verse I have today for my journal. In some part of our lives..I know we had an experience relating to this verse and it is good to remember what we should learn from it. :) God bless!♥
Burahinconstructive criticisms din kumbaga. nice you listened with your team members. in the end, all of you were happy. nice story. :-)
TumugonBurahinIn some parts of my life after that, I had forgotten to listen but its is good that this verse in my journal had reminded me of what I should be to be a good person.
BurahinThis hit me because I've always thought I failed as a leader. Maybe I just failed to listen to the members of the group. Thanks for the lesson. :-)
TumugonBurahinBe glad of help, Sis Marie. May we both be guided by God's love. God Bless! ♥
BurahinThis is sooo right! Thanks for sharing this. :)
TumugonBurahinYou are most, welcome. I hope it did touch a bit of your life somehow. God bless! ♥
BurahinTama. In being SILENT there is LISTEN. :)
TumugonBurahinYes, Ma'm Tet! In silence comes observance, concentration and listening.
BurahinIt's not always easy to accept help from others when you're the leader. :) You reminded me of our own Florante at Laura bit in highschool. :)
TumugonBurahinSuch a strict leader I want to be who wish everything to work according to my way, but "madami na nag-away sa pagkanta ng MY WAY" so I guess it is not wrong to see, observe and listen to what other would say about something for better judgement. I really got reminded of this. If I would be a leader someday, I would remember this lesson in my journal.
Burahinit takes humility to accept the opinions or views of other group members. i salute you for considering that when the sutuation called for it. :)
TumugonBurahinAll praises back to our Lord God! Thank you, Sis Gal. Many good and successful leader had done it..I guess even great leaders had a group of people to give their opinion and not just decide on their own. However, I only got reminded of this soon as I read my journal verse...I had forgotten this good act, maybe the answer to my question of why I fail in some part of my life. But I know, there is always room for change and success. :)
BurahinThat's what we called "participative leadership". The decision is not only concentrated on the leader but to all members of the group. This is a timely reminder to everyone. Thanks for sharing Sis! :)
TumugonBurahinWelcome, Krizza! Be glad to be of help, if it does. God bless!
Burahintrue, you need to learn how to listen to become a good leader and always be ready for changes XD
TumugonBurahinAmen! ..it is something I got reminded of really.
BurahinWe are all leaders but what makes it unique is how we lead but of course effective leaders are those whom I call "eclectic leaders". Changing the mood of leadership according to the situation.
TumugonBurahinGreat that you listen to your casts.
Hmm..i learned something from your comment. God bless, Bro Marco!
BurahinExcellent post. I love how you described a leader very well and how it has been linked to the God's word.
TumugonBurahinIt is the way a journal is done, Sis. Rose, I try to analyze what is the connection of the verse I had on this day to my life in past, present and future- to what I dreamed about and this resulted to my journal.
BurahinGod teaches me-us in this way. A way that God can talk back. We pray and pray so we are always the one doing the talking but when I started my journal, God started talking too...thru the bible verses and analyzing what I had done with my life. I got so amazed how I saw the good and bad things I have done and how God keep on teaching me. I am now sharing this with you and all those who would read my journal to share what I learned and hoping to touch hearts and be blessed by God's words that I shared. Thanks for your praises, Rose and I bring back all your praises back to God! God bless! ♥
Nice story. Sometimes we set our standards high that we are not willing to compromise. Good point about being a good listener.
TumugonBurahinHonestly, it is something I had done but not repeated, I guess. I got reminded soon as I got my verse for this blog. It is an answer and a lesson that how God wanted me to be from now on.
Burahinooops. i didn't notice the typo i had on my first comment. btw, checking your site for updates. have a good day! :D
TumugonBurahinThanks for your second visit! I hope you have a chance to read on my replies. God bless!
BurahinI agree. A good leader is not just a leader. You need to be a good listener and a follower too. Being a leader doesn't mean you are the only one with opinion because everyone's opinion in a group does matter.
TumugonBurahinOpinion does matter..what is Matter? It is anything that occupies space and has weight...may weight pala ang matter! :), so I think we should weigh things first before hitting the final judgement. Aw! ang hirap n'yan pag mag-isa lang...but I'm never alone..may friends ako who are willing to lend a shoulder to cry on kapag di ko na kaya..thankful ako kay Lord that I have them...and pray that God bless them palagi.:)♥
Burahincorrect a good leader must listen to his followers, sana ang presidente makinig rin sa hinaing ng mamamayang Pilipino
TumugonBurahinSpeaking of "hinaing", Reese...we are having a problem with the SSS. Many of our employees are complaining of un-posted contribution despite that it had been long paid for. then, SSS would collect balance and penalties with our employees that files a new SSS Salary loan. I know this is your forte, I pray that you would come up with an article to awaken those sleeping section in our government. Please. Kawawa naman ang mga SSS members...and also thanks for your comment. I always wait for your comments in my blogs. God bless!
BurahinThere's a lot of things to learn, it doesn't mean that you're a leader you know everything sometimes, you need to be a good listener and understand the situation. Help you along the way for best solution and success.:)
TumugonBurahinI agree with you, Melgie.
BurahinJesus is the best example of leadership. i agree with you. leaders should be the one giving example of humbleness by serving his followers, just like Jesus when he washed the feet of his disciples. :)
TumugonBurahinVery true, Gerilen.
Burahinoh, florante at laura! our class did an interpretation of it back in 2nd year high school too. the only difference was, we created a script modernizing our take on it. i had so much fun since i wrote the script but it was a failure when we first presented it. luckily, our teacher gave us another chance and we got the highest score among the groups in our class.
TumugonBurahinIt is good that you had another chance.
BurahinIT is not easy to be a leader but if you are called to a leadership role it is something you should execute with care.
TumugonBurahinI believe that some people were born to be a leader although we all have leadership in our own ways. "Hindi naman kasi pwede lahat ay leaders." but like what you said, we need to execute it with care and with this verse/lesson...we have a great idea on how to be a good one.
Burahinthere are many people who handles the title of a leader but only few of them acts as true leader.
TumugonBurahinIndeed...if all leaders in our government really acted their roles, we could be one of the most prosperous country in the world.:(
BurahinI agree! A good leader should know how to listen to members too.
TumugonBurahinAmen! God bless!
Burahinnice share and i agree a good leader knows how to listen and accept suggestion..
TumugonBurahinRosemarie/Gven-Rose
then I think you are a good leader yourself. God bless! :D
