A Little Sharing: Do You Know How The Devil Looks Like?

A pair of big dark scary horns, big red cape, dark skinned body with a very ugly face and scary laugh holding a big fork and sharp big teeth.- This is what we usually see on television, movies and paper backs whenever the description of the 'enemy' or the devil was described but these are not facts.

However, there is one way to know how it really looks like...

A few months ago, our newly assigned Church Pastor Sonny San Pedro has this subject in his sermon and it really touched and got into my heart and mind.

According to Rev. San Pedro, the enemy had always been envisioned to be like what the movies and pictures had described it but HOW DOES IT REALLY LOOKS LIKE?

No one can really tell.

We all know very well that the work of the devil are bad works like gossip, cheating, lies, deception, suffering, tears, war, fighting, failure, worries, fears, greed, anger, pain and anything that makes us and our fellow men miserable, sick, poor or sad.

The challenge is ...Everyday or every night why don't we look at ourselves in the mirror...ask ourselves if we have done any of the above bad work to our fellowmen...let us check ourselves if we have caused misery to others and think if what we did today made others suffer...only ourselves would know the real answer because only we knew what we really have done for the day.

Do not look unto what others had done to other people. Look at ourselves in the mirror...
Ask ourselves, what did we do today? Have we committed any of this bad work? Have I caused misery to others?... then...perhaps...looking at the mirror one can found out what the devil looks like.

Now, Do you know how the devil looks like?

Everybody laugh after Rev. San Pedro sermon was finished. He made those all sound like a joke and would want to make all things light.

But reflecting on the message he had given that day touched my heart and mind and asked myself, "How do I look like to the eyes of my fellow men?"

As I walked out of the church that day, I went to see myself in the mirror and checked myself out and prayed...I ask God to shine HIS face upon me and guide me everyday to be good to myself and to others and hope that I may never see the enemy in my mirror. Never.

****
Our Father in Heaven, Our God of Goodness, may you always shine your face upon me so that I can always see the goodness that I should practice in my life. Let your goodness flow in my heart and mind so that I may share it with others too. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

  2. Very true look yourself in the mirror first before you say something to others so that you don't offend them and make them feel miserable.

    1. I realized how I was with other people before and maybe for them I could have been the enemy but with the help of the Lord and by tying so hard to follow Jesus teaching I hope to see an angel in my mirror instead of the other one...(wish! :) )

  3. We all have the same picture of the devil in our heads but sometime, it can turn into the person next to you or just familiar faces. Now, I have a different picture of a devil in my head..

  4. The enemy or devil is sometimes within us, through prayers and patience and believing that God is always there for us we can conquer it all...just extra careful of what being said. It may hurt other people feelings and emotion.

    1. Yes, we have to be careful. As the teaching of Solomon earlier taught in this blog we have to tame our tongues and must have a high emotional intelligence...we are trying to learn day by day...God will guide us...God bless!

    1. As realized, Maybe in my past I wasn't so good that a lot of people had seen me like an enemy. It is a big realization that even as we don't grow horns we can become an enemy to the eyes of our brethren and this I no longer want to happen. I am keeping my faith unto the Lord and striving to be good to be a beauty in GOD's eyes. I might fail at times but I am praying I would be better someday. God bless!

  8. Most of us really looked evil as monster with very scary face or looks. But watching the Supernatural series, it shows that demons or evil can look like humans too. It is really hard to tell how they looked like.
    Nice sermon by the way.

    1. You can tell perhaps if you would adopt what the message of the sermon had said. It is sometimes hard to accept that sometimes we become the enemy to our fellowmen specially if we believe in ourselves too much that we are good and not capable of doing harm intentionally to our brethren and if we had the thought that we are always right..i used to be like that and does not want to be anymore. I surrender it all to Jesus and I am willing to change...it may not be instant or constant but I will try my best to be...and for those who would want me to fail on this..perhaps they need to look in the mirror. God bless!

  9. Love your post, because it is soo true. We hate people with negative vibes, but aren't we being negative when we hate them as well? Lord, help us to be in your image and likeness the way you meant us to be...

  10. That's true. Super true. When I was young, I also had that belief that the devil looked like the one from the horror movies. Well, it's scarier to know that instead of being the mirror-image of God, we might be the mirror-image of the devil. That's one great reflection to keep in mind!

  11. Sometimes I feel like the devil looks like ourselves, hehehehe! I mean the devil leaves within us. But with the help of prayer we can throw them away.

  13. Thank you for the wonderful lesson you shared in your post . It is so true. Prayers are our weapon to drive away the devil and pray that we never see him in the mirror when we see our reflection.

  14. Oh the devil has many guises and many times we fall into his traps because he presents not his hideous form but the enticing ones that ensnares us.

  15. REally inspiring post.. the Devil does have many different faces and may not be as scary looking as those shown in the movies. We do need to reflect on ourselves frequently to see if we are following GODs words.

  18. Amen! When we are consumed with hate, we become the bad person that we don't want to become. :)

  21. I don't know which is scarier; the devil with horns or the devil with a smile! God and prayer protects us from both.

  22. man is by nature evil. but the moral compass that has been instilled on us since childhood prevents us from being consumed by that evil. prayers keep us from straying to the path of evil.

  23. This is true! So sad that people can do evil things sometimes. Prayers will surely help.

    TumugonBurahin
  24. The devil can be very deceiving that is why the burden is on us to be able to discern what is good and evil
