LONG LIFE

Do you want to know one of its secret?

God teaches about love…to faith… to character…even up to health and diet.

In my early journal days, I browsed the old testament reading from the Chapter of Genesis until I reached the book of Numbers before I was asked to start reading the new testament alternately.
From the old testament I read, the message clearly revealed to refrain from eating pork and eat only the sea foods that has fins and scales (Fish), vegetables and birds (chicken).

Verse 27 The fear of the Lord adds length to life, is very true to me. In obedience to the Lord, I followed the diet revealed to me which made me avoid or lowered my cholesterol.
It was a tough fight since I love lechon kawali, sinigang na baboy, menudo, lechon paksiw and pork barbeque.
Seeing those dishes in net and for real makes me drool but I fear God so I have to be obedient … I cut pork from my diet totally for more than a year…praise God, I feel better since then.

I was thinking, if I had not listened to God’s message to me through my journal and continued to be undisciplined with my eating habits especially that the word “diet” is not in my vocabulary… Verse 27  the years of the wicked are cut shortI hate to think I can no longer be with you at this moment…no, no, no… I am sure glad I am still here today and all praises to my Lord Jesus and our father in Heaven!

(Reading the new testament, Lord Jesus mentioned that we are allowed to eat everything and all that we eat would be released too… I was allowed to eat PORK! But since I got used to not eating the meat...I still try to avoid it as much as I can.) (So, it is not bawal…tikim-tikim na lang! he,he,he :D)

Let us pray…

Our Father God in heaven, I always prayed for longer life…I am thankful to know the secret to attain my wish. Thank you for your guidance.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

How did the fear of the Lord add length to your life?

  1. I always believe that by grace we are saved. But it doesn't hurt to be of service to other people as well. I'd like to believe that the good deeds I do for the people around me add length to my life. :)

    2. Thanks, Glenda :) I guess what we should also pray for is a life shared with others and well-lived. :)

  2. I believe if we walk our ways with God, it is the secret to longevity. Ate Glenda, I also had that mistake before. Reading the Old Testament taught me madaming bawal with food. But the New is different. We can eat every food we have as long as we eat with thanksgiving to God. Kaso sa dami ba namang sakit ngayon, hehe it is good to eat in moderation especially those food which are proven to increase our health risks.

    1. Tama ka naman, Sis. Kristine. shifting to New Testament, si Lord Jesus pa ang may sabi that whatever we eat will be wasted din naman kaya pedi naman kahit ano but the fear of God made me follow the Old testament first which I benefited din later on. It was designed for me, I believe so. Like what you said..Moderation. Yun ang tama.

    1. ah, Reese..I need to be deprived at those times. God taught me discipline which later on had been beneficial naman. I lack exercise. Always sitting because I need to...to work. Mega taba na yata ako, kaya kahit I was deprived when I was following old testament, it did me good. I am glad god taught me a good eating habbit for choosing fish, veggie and white meat-chicken..still exercise pa din..I am trying.

  5. So true. I need to watch my diet na rin cuz I tend to neglect it if I am stressed or depressed. But being depressed (my dad's death and other health problems) made me closer to the Lord...

    1. Praise God for good revelations, you being close to God is a good news. Ah, it is one of my habit too..eating when stressed or angry. When in bad mood, I tend to eat than get angry..bad for me.. I have eaten a lot! (means I always get tensed and stressed hehehe) But...control..control...God bless!

    1. That is good! My son is also like that. He never eat meat fat..just the lean meat...that is why he is slim...I'm quite the opposite (shame :()But my fear of the Lord taught me good discipline. I praise GOD for that and thank GOD so much...tikim -tikim only for me kapag di makatiis..(just the lean..like you)

  7. There is actually a good reason why pork was one of the no-no's...just look at what a pig eats. But like Jesus said, it is not really what we put in our mouths that defile us...

As to what's forbidden and not, I think it's our own personal conviction in relation to how our relationship with God is. So, what we perceive as bawal to us may be alright to another. We will be dealt with according to our faith din kasi. That is what I believe.

    1. I read an article posted by Allan about pork. It would really discourage us to eat the meat.
You are right, Sis. We also need to respect other people's belief or faith. As for me, I know God prompted me to stop on those times because it is best for me. I really felt God's care. God wanted me to live longer...that I know.

  9. This is one of the beliefs that I struggled with when I converted to SDA. I grew up eating pork. But religion aside, it just makes sense. Taking care of ourselves means we choose food that are good for our body.

    1. Yes...and following our good Lord's word is one of the best. God bless!

  10. Some verses in the Old Testament are not really applicable now. But I see your point on why we should deprive ourselves sometimes. Sometimes it's the only way to be disciplined. :-)

    1. I was really disciplined specially at those time. After almost a year of "no pork" diet came the time that I should start reading the new testament alternately with the old and then I learned..so hindi pala bawal but I was really disciplined! Amazing how God cares for us. So pampering..if we know how to listen. God bless!

  11. There is wisdom in those words for sure. If we walk in the path of God, we can't really go wrong. Pero minsan depende din sa interpretation diba?

    1. Yes. It is amazing how one verse can meant a lot different from each and everyone of us...and it goes along to what ever life we have. It is because God's words have power...that I believe. Whatever interpretation we have, we just need to listen. God's words are very appropriate to us and all we need to know. We simply need to listen and follow for our own good.

      Burahin
  12. Yes I am aware of this. Since the Holy Spirit resides in our bodies, we should treat it with reverence and utmost care.

    1. Don't spoil yourself too much, Lady. I use to do that and it did me harm. I heard one lesson.. the meaning of spoil (present tense), spoiled (past tense)...spoiled= rotten. Why would we want to make ourselves rotten??? :D (Aw! hehehehe)
I too have to motivate myself to exercise...Praise God for this wonderful words! God bless, Lady!

    TumugonBurahin

    1. I am guilty with the fast food meals too.. but I was able to cut on the soda because of my hyper acidity and if I am not mistaken, I think my hyper acidity triggers my neuralgia attacks so very very minimal soft drinks for me. God bless!
