Basis of Conclusions

He was three, she was five. He was coming down the stairs and she was seated in the second to the last row and using the third row as a “piano”…playing seriously as if she is Mozart.

Then…POW!

His little foot touched her face! Kicked her down so he can get her off his way. She got off balanced and fell down the bottom of the stairs with her head hitting the cemented floor.  She was laying down the floor shocked when he reached her and tried to grab her hair. She knew he would pull her hair so she moved quickly making him miss… HE MISSED!…then he cried…because he failed to reach her hair.

That is when their mother came in… Seeing his little boy crying… She furiously slapped her and scolded her for making him cry. The mother did not even bother to ask why she was laying down the floor. She never bothers to see her bleeding lips and the paining small lump on her head for hitting the floor.

Yet…she was quiet. Accepted all the scolds her mother would give her because she knew she will get more if she answered or explain her side.

The mother based her conclusion on what she saw and what she felt.  She never bothered to investigate.

Was that fair?

I say, she only ended up hurting her more.

Kawikaan 10:20-21 (Tagalog)
Magandang Balita Biblia (TPV)

God wants us to look for the facts, learn the truth and gather information before we come up to a decision or conclusion.
Using our feelings as a basis for conclusion can make our judgment weak.
Leaving no room for knowledge would make us empty, useless and senseless that could only lead us to failure.

Let us pray…

Our Father God in heaven, we thank you for the wisdom you give us everyday as we go on with our daily life. We thank you Lord for the ability to see…to find…what the truth is. We can find the truth in Your words and teachings. Lord, lead us to the right path and thank you for teaching us a way on how we could make a decision or conclusions before we take any action. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

  1. Poor girl. Indeed, we must investigate before making conclusions. The truth isn't always what it seems.

  6. For parents, we should always look at the situation and try to see things out of the incident. There are parents who really is like that. Only based their decision on the situation that they instantly saw.

  9. As I mature in years, I have learned to be "less" in all aspect. Mahirap but the grace of God enables me to do so. I'm glad too for my mom who never fails to give me reminders all the time.

  12. Aw! It was sure a sad sight to see. Maybe seeing his little boy cries made her not think of her another child. But that should never be an excuse because hurting your child or anyone is not right. And right, we must control our feelings and should know the true situation before acting. Or we'll be sorry.
