Proverbs
11:12
12 Whoever
derides their neighbor has no sense,
but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.
but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.
New International Version (NIV)
Kawikaan 11:12 (Tagalog) Magandang Balita Biblia
(TPV)
12 Ang kapos
sa kaalaman ay humahamak sa kapwa, ngunit laging tahimik ang taong may unawa.
After the first information reached or first side of the
story had been laid down…WHAM!
In most people it would already be the basis of judgment
and because of lack of information most of the time it does more harm than good.
Often times it is also the key to MISUNDERSTANDING.
On the other hand, the bible says “ but the one who has understanding holds
their tongue”
Intelligent or wise people tend to keep silent first and
try to find the story of the second party or the entire story or the entire
incident before making any comment or suggestion. This is why often times they could
render proper decision or suggestion which make them WISE.
Let us pray…
Dear Father in
heaven, Thank you for Your message today. This will help us to be…to act…to
think wisely. In Jesus name we pray. Amen
My mother also teaches me to keep mum especially if I have nothing good to say. And yes, it is wise to listen.
TumugonBurahinOn hindsight, I meet some who continue talking and talking kahit di sila hinihingan ng opinion no? They also pretend to be very intelligent people but when you observe their lives, it needs a revamp!
BurahinYour mother taught you well. I salute her and on your hindsight, well that is another story.
BurahinIt is important to pray and to find out the whole story without jumping to conclusions.. many a time people jump to conclusions too fast.
TumugonBurahinAgree with you dominique. Pray is a very powerful shield.
BurahinThanks for another wise word, Ms. Glen. This is what I try to live for, but somehow, it's easier to make rash decisions. Especially when it's a group against one person, diba? We really need to pray harder for the Holy Spirit's guidance.
TumugonBurahinAmen to that, Ms. Marie.
BurahinSometimes, we really tend to listen to one side of the story only making some person immediately judge a person without knowing the whole story. Thanks for the reminder.
TumugonBurahinYou are most welcome. This is a message for all of us.
BurahinAmen! Think / Ponder before you speak. That is the key of a peaceful life. :D
TumugonBurahinTrue.
BurahinThanks for reminder! listening and knowing the whole story make better judgement. I learned lot of this when I have my two kids.:) Thanks for sharing:)
TumugonBurahinWelcome. God bless!
Burahinit's a case of your word against mine. ahhh, it takes wisdom to carefully weigh who's telling the truth and who's not. never release a statement if you're in the height of your emotions.
TumugonBurahinThis is so true. It's better to keep silent first and know the whole story first before saying anything so you'll have a better understanding of the situation. Like what they always say, if you can't say anything good, better to keep yourself mum instead. Also, before saying anything, it's very important to PRAY first as ask for God's guidance that He may help you say the right words.
TumugonBurahinAmen. I agree for Prayers.
BurahinSapul na sapol ate Glen. Minsan talaga sigurong ganun. We tend to react easily. Madami din factors like kung stress ka volatile ka nun, madali masaring un feelings me especially kung ikaw un involve sa situation. Eventually natutunan naman na manahimik na muna, makinig at mag-isip bago magreact. I know kasi ganun ako dati.
TumugonBurahinYou know me enough and I still pray for God's guidance very now and then. :) God bless!
BurahinIt's true, when we make decisions, we must always weight in all the facts. Hearing only one side of a story and deciding on that account is not only unfair but it courts problems.
TumugonBurahinTrue, Ms. Aileen. It really invites problems instead of solutions.
BurahinSo true, better to listen first since there are always 2 sides of a story. Thank you for the reminder and advice.
TumugonBurahinAmen. Welcome. It may sounds an advice but this is a lesson I am learning myself. Sharing it with you and those whom you would share it made us fulfill our task of spreading the teaching and words of God. However it had touched your life, I glad it is for the best. God bless!
BurahinI agree! Most problems are often caused by simple misunderstanding. We must listen and think before we speak.
TumugonBurahinVery true. God bless!
BurahinThis is so true, sometimes we tend to misjudge the other party if we only get to hear one side of the story. Especially if that one side is related to you...
TumugonBurahinWe unintentionally get involve immediately if the one telling the story is a part of family because of the closeness and relation. However, like most of us had suggested. Prayer is the best shield to do when we are at the height of our emotions. :)
BurahinGreat reminder for parents like me. I have much to learn from my children if I only listen well.
TumugonBurahinYes, specially to our children. Let us never fail to listen as God listened to us as HIS children.
BurahinThere are different sides to a story. Sometimes, we are quick to take side. This is a nice reminder.
TumugonBurahinIt may sounds an advice but this is a lesson I am learning myself. Sharing it with you and those whom you would share it made us fulfill our task of spreading the teaching and words of God. However it had touched your life, I glad it is for the best. God bless!
Burahinthanks for the reminder Ate Glen that we should be wise and listen to both sides first before making decisions. Happy Weekend! :)
TumugonBurahinI hope you had a great weekend, Janz!
BurahinI love this. Most of the time, misunderstandings arise when we want to have the last say more than to actually listen.
TumugonBurahinThe passage tells us to hold judgement, and to keep from saying things we might later on regret.
TumugonBurahinReminds us all of one og the important virtues which is the gift of listening and discernment.
TumugonBurahinAmen!
BurahinI love this! WE all need reminders to just listen. It is amazing how much we learn from listening and how much clearer our views become when we do. TY!
TumugonBurahinEliz
Yes, Ms. Eliz. I agree with you.
Burahini agree listening makes us wiser however there are times that we missed to listen the both side of the story and we just take the other side of the story
TumugonBurahinRosemarie/Gven-Rose
I very well agree! Many comment and react immediately and causes unnecessary friction!!!
TumugonBurahinThis is so TRUE! kailangan talaga we listen muna bago judge and do comments sa others. thanks for great reminder.:) Happy Halloween
TumugonBurahinWow. this post just reminded me what happened earlier. I hold back. Buti na lang. Hahaha..
TumugonBurahinI am glad you did and were able to. :)
BurahinListening is certainly very important if we want to know the truth.
TumugonBurahinPassed by this one again. It's indeed one of the important things to do as a human being, listen :)
TumugonBurahinso true...
TumugonBurahinthis reminds me of the saying that goes something like: "less talk, less mistake" :)
TumugonBurahinIf everyone considers this, the world would definitely be a better place :)
TumugonBurahinThe tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do.(James 3:5)
TumugonBurahinAmen!
BurahinI grew up with the saying "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all." I just can't imagine how some people can be vicious with their words
TumugonBurahinActually. Kahit makinig ka lang even if u dont say anything, theres always something new to learn :)
