INTENTIONS

Can we use cheat and greed for good intentions?

I was not aware of the commotion going on until the officer announced that there was a supervisor tampering his time card to gain overtime and have a bigger take home pay. All I said to myself was “Oh,who could that be?!” I was completely innocent of what was going on till then. I did not like the way things are turning out... immediately guessed that stricter rules would be implemented later on because of it…and it happened!

Almost a week passed before I knew who he was. I later learned that the supervisor reasoned out that he needed the money badly to support his nieces/relatives studies. Many doubted his reasoning but if it was true…

His intentions were righteous but the ways were wicked.

His righteous intentions gave way to his graceful exit from the company. He was asked to resign instead of being terminated. He would then have a chance… a new life to take… to change and be a better person. However, his wickedness cost him his job…the chance to earn in the recent company died. He was punished not only by the governing officers but all the people who knew his cheating actions. All sees him as a sinner that causes every one he left behind to suffer the new rules implemented by the company to prevent recurrence of his actions and implement traceability. Sad to say, because of this, some even thanked that he’s gone.

Proverbs 10:16

New International Version (NIV)
16 The wages of the righteous is life,
but the earnings of the wicked are sin and death.
See: www.biblegateway.com

Kawikaan 10:16 (Tagalog)
Magandang Balita Biblia (TPV)
Ang kinikita ng matuwid ay nagbibigay buhay, ngunit ang sa masama, winawaldas sa kasamaan.

We try to earn…we need to…but we must do it in a good way to turn our earnings to blessings and a source of life. We have to make sure that the earnings we bring home to our families were fruit of good labor and good intentions.

Let us pray…

Our Heavenly Father. please guide us as we go on our work. Lead us to the right path to ensure that the ways we earn our living came from good labor and righteous ways. Help us observe honesty and keep us from sins brought by cheat and greed. With an aim to be good, there are some chances that we could only bring home so little to put in our plates for our family but we believe, Lord, no matter how little it is…if it comes in good faith it would be a blessing and would be multiplied with Your help and our effort.  In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Lesson Learned:

Wicked ways cannot be a good source to supply good intentions.

  1. awww, that was harsh...agad-agad he was terminated, sana sinuspende muna...i also don't like cheaters pero sana he was given pa a chance to correct, hirap pa naman maghanap ng trabaho...

    1. Yes, some also wished they had confronted the person to correct him but it was late when they learned the incident. It must be the way things should happen. It's best that we learn from this just like the verse says.

    1. we never know...God sees everything and "karma" might come in different ways. That someone could have manipulated it well and managed to stay but the money collected from it..we don't know if that could bring happiness or horror instead.

It could be the best the company can do for the good intentions that he had but he sure had an expensive lesson since he lost the source to complete his intentions and way of living for the meantime.

  7. That's really silly of the supervisor to do such a thing. It truely shows that it pays to not cheat at work.

    1. Like the verse says, "the earnings of the wicked are sin and death." but when we try our best to be good "the wages of the righteous is life,"..and everybody wants life than death.

  8. There is no justification, however noble the intentions, when you do something wrong to achieve that. The punishment may have been harsh as some see it. But he is in a higher position, being a supervisor and the accountability is greater than if it were from rank and file position. I think the punishment is well deserved. In our office, the punishment is also harsher for those who hold key positions.

  9. The end doesn't always justify the means. We have had to let go of people who have done fraudulent things and I can never understand why they would sacrifice security of a monthly paycheck for a quick buck. Tsk.

    1. A great desire to fulfill his intention or attraction to the inviting sparkle of money that the enemy frequently uses to destroy us humans and be taken away from God's guidance. When one had tasted the beauty and enjoyed the power of money that often led us astray...that is why we should always be connected...to God...because we are not perfect. the good thing is we are given a chance to repent and as soon as he does I am sure God will be most welcome to have him back to His arms and have a new life.
